Premium Car Audio — New Zealand

Better Audio.
Any Audi.

Every Audi — any model, any spec, any year — can sound better than it left the factory. Whether you're driving a base A3 or a fully-loaded RS with Bang & Olufsen, the factory system shares one fundamental limitation: it was tuned for the average listener. We add what the factory can't — and take full control of what's already there. Starting from under $1,500.

Worth knowing

Whether your Audi has the standard system, Bose, Bang & Olufsen, or Sonos — we work with all of them. Base spec can be taken beyond what any factory premium package offers. Premium spec can go further still. The difference isn't which badge is on your speakers — it's who's controlling them.

Sedan & Wagon

A-Series & S-Series

A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8 and their S-Series counterparts. With a long history and a range of audio configurations available from factory, we've already upgraded countless Audi. From 2025, Audi introduced a new audio platform — we've already mapped the upgrade path. Full four-door configuration, front and rear speaker locations, underseat or boot subwoofer options.

SUV & Crossover

Q-Series & SQ/RSQ

Q3, Q5, Q7, Q8 and the performance SQ and RSQ variants. The RSQ8 with Bang & Olufsen is one of the most rewarding builds we do — the hardware is exceptional, the factory tuning is not. We can fix that. Available with full five-door configuration including third-row considerations on Q7.

Sports & Coupé

TT & R8

Two-door configuration with front-only speaker locations. Fewer speakers means every component choice matters more — and the results are exceptional. Compact subwoofer options fit without compromising the driving environment.

Audi has offered a range of factory audio options across their lineup — standard, Bose, Bang & Olufsen, and Sonos. Each requires a different approach. All of them can be significantly improved. If you're unsure which system your Audi has, we'll identify it at no charge.

  • Compact underseat or underfloor subwoofer
  • Professional sound deadening — all four doors (front only for TT/R8)
  • Power kit, cables and consumables
  • Installation and calibration

The entry point for any Audi, any spec. A compact subwoofer adds the low-frequency foundation the factory system was never designed to deliver convincingly. Professional sound deadening across all four doors — or front doors only on TT and R8 — drops road noise noticeably and creates a properly sealed acoustic environment for each speaker. Immediately noticeable. Completely invisible.

Power &

  • Compact underseat or underfloor subwoofer
  • Professional sound deadening — all four doors (front only for TT/R8)
  • Multichannel DSP amplifier with app control
  • Full individual speaker timing, phase and EQ calibration
  • Power kit, cables and minor parts
  • Installation and calibration

The DSP amplifier is where real control begins. A professional multichannel ADSP takes over every speaker in the vehicle — correcting timing, phase, and equalisation independently for each driver. This is what no factory system offers, regardless of badge or price. Full control. Putting more power into the factory speakers can be all that's required. Pricing depends on your factory audio configuration. Standard systems require different hardware compared to the factory upgrade audio packs. The likes of Bose, Bang & Olufsen, and Sonos configurations require a 16-channel DSP amplifier which starts from $3,000 before parts and labour.

New Zealand's car audio specialists.

Rapid Radio has been installing and calibrating car audio systems in Auckland for over two decades. We work across the full spectrum — from everyday EVs through to Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Tesla — with every build calibrated by ear to the vehicle and the owner. No compromise installs. Factory-clean finish. Every time.

No two builds are the same — and that's the point.

Because the DSP is the engine of every upgrade, the hardware around it is entirely flexible. Entry-level speaker sets will sound dramatically better than the factory system — and world-class reference components will do things the factory engineers never imagined. We work across the full range, from practical upgrades to reference builds, and every system is calibrated by ear before you leave.

Can you upgrade the audio in any Audi sold in New Zealand?

Yes. We work with the full Audi range — A-Series, S-Series, Q-Series, SQ, RS and RSQ, TT, and R8. Every model year and every factory audio configuration is upgradeable, including the latest 2025 A5, S5, S6, Q3, Q5, and Q7 platforms.

How much does an Audi audio upgrade cost in New Zealand?

System One — subwoofer and sound deadening — starts from under $1,800. System Two adds a DSP amplifier but a more straightforward power amp might be enough, depending on your specifics from under $2000. Bang & Olufsen, Bose, and Sonos configurations usually require a 16-channel DSP — amplifier from which is $3,000 before parts and labour. System Three pricing is tailored to your component choices. My Audi has Bang & Olufsen — is it worth upgrading?

Yes — and the results are some of the most rewarding we produce. The B&O hardware is genuinely good. The factory tuning is not. A professional DSP gives you individual control over every speaker in the system — timing, phase, and EQ per driver — which is something the factory system was never designed to offer. The improvement is significant.

What is a DSP amplifier and why does my Audi need one?

A DSP — Digital Signal Processor — takes control of every speaker in your vehicle independently. It corrects timing so sound from every driver reaches your ears simultaneously. It adjusts phase and equalisation per speaker. It compensates for the acoustic compromises of your specific interior. No factory audio system — regardless of brand or price — offers this level of control. It is the single most significant upgrade you can make to any car audio system.

Will upgrading the audio void my Audi warranty?

In most cases, no. All of our installations are fully reversible — no cutting, no permanent modifications, and everything can be returned to factory condition. Our installation method is specifically designed to preserve your vehicle's warranty position.

Does the upgrade affect Audi's MMI system and virtual cockpit?

No. We work behind the factory head unit — your MMI, virtual cockpit, steering wheel controls, and any Audi Connect features remain completely intact. The upgrade is invisible to the vehicle's systems and to anyone who looks at the interior....unless you WANT it on display.

How long does an Audi audio upgrade take?

System One is typically a one-day installation. System Two adds the DSP amplifier and calibration, usually requiring two to three days. System Three with full speaker replacement and final calibration by ear may take three days or longer, depending on the complexity of the build. We will confirm timing when you book.

My Audi has the standard system, not Bose or B&O. Is it worth upgrading?

Absolutely — and in many ways the standard system is the most rewarding starting point. With a DSP amplifier and quality component speakers, a base Audi can easily surpass what the factory B&O system delivers. You get better hardware and proper control. The factory premium badge is a marketing tier in some ways. We deal in actual performance.
