Better Sound.
Any Kia.
Kia's lineup has grown fast. The EV6, EV9, Sorento, Tasman, Sportage, Seltos, Carnival, and the full EV range from EV3 to EV9 and the PV5 van — each a different vehicle, different factory audio spec, different upgrade path. Some leave the factory with a capable premium system that just needs the right signal processing to realise its potential. Others start from a clean slate. Either way, the approach is the same: no shortcuts, no unnecessary complexity, and nothing that changes how the car looks or behaves from the factory. We've worked on Kias across the range — including the EV6 and Sorento where we've done some of our more involved builds. The results speak for themselves. The Kia Stinger may no longer be in current production, but if you're driving one and want to improve it, we can help with that too. The PV5 commercial van arrives in New Zealand in Q4 2026 — we'll be ready for it when it does.
Electric — EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6 & EV9
Kia's electric range covers everything from the compact EV3 to the flagship three-row EV9. The quiet EV cabin is both an asset and a challenge — less road noise means more of the music, but it also means more of every flaw in the system. Standard 6-speaker configurations benefit enormously from proper amplification and a controlled subwoofer. GT-Line and GT variants of the EV6 and EV9 come with Meridian premium audio — capable hardware that a multichannel DSP amplifier transforms into something exceptional.
SUV & Family — Sportage, Seltos, Sorento & Carnival
Kia's SUV and family range is where most of the volume sits. The Sportage, Seltos, Sorento, and Carnival each have their own factory audio story — Harman Kardon on the Sportage X-Line, Bose on the Seltos EX and LTD, Bose on the Sorento Water, Bose on the Carnival Water. Standard-spec models across the range follow a straightforward upgrade path. Premium-equipped models get the DSP treatment — same hardware, dramatically better results once the signal processing catches up with the speakers.
Ute — Tasman
The Tasman is Kia's first proper ute, and it's already on the streets. TX and TXR variants run a standard 6-speaker system — a compact underseat subwoofer, amplification, and door deadening make an immediate difference in a cab built for durability rather than acoustics. The X-Pro tops the range with Harman Kardon 8-speaker premium audio, where a DSP amplifier unlocks what the factory tuning leaves on the table. A dedicated Tasman audio upgrade page is coming — contact us in the meantime for a build specific to your variant.

Better Sound. Any Kia.

- Sound deadening — front doors (all four doors where applicable)
- Two-channel amplifier
- Power kit, cables and minor parts
- Installation and calibration
The factory audio in most Kias does the job. It fills the cabin, it works with CarPlay, and on paper the spec looks reasonable. In practice, the speakers are underpowered, the bass is thin, and road noise competes with everything above 60km/h. System One addresses the fundamentals without touching the factory head unit or disrupting anything that already works. A compact underseat subwoofer fills the low-frequency range the standard system can't reach. Sound deadening across the front doors — and rear doors where applicable — reduces road noise and gives each speaker a properly sealed environment to work in. In the EV6, EV9, and Tasman, where the cabin character varies significantly by variant, the difference is immediately audible. For Kias on the standard 6-speaker configuration — which covers the majority of models and trims — a two-channel amplifier driving the factory speakers adds power and control before the signal even reaches the subwoofer. The result is a system that feels significantly more capable without looking or behaving any differently. Multichannel DSP.
Factory System Unlocked.
DSP precision. Every speaker, individually controlled.
Tailored quote — contact us- Compact underseat subwoofer
- Multichannel DSP amplifier with app control
- Full individual speaker timing, phase and EQ calibration
- Sound deadening — front doors
- Power kit, cables and minor parts
- Installation and calibration
Full DSP control over every speaker in your Kia — the upgrade that turns a capable system into something genuinely impressive. System Two is built around a multichannel DSP amplifier. Independent timing, phase, and equalisation for every speaker in the vehicle. The acoustic compromises every factory system is engineered around — corrected individually, not averaged across the cabin. For Kias on the standard 6-speaker configuration, the DSP unlocks the full potential of the factory drivers and adds a properly controlled subwoofer beneath them. For models equipped with a premium factory system — Meridian on the EV6 and EV9, Harman Kardon on the Sportage, EV3, EV5, Niro, and Tasman X-Pro, Bose on the Sorento, Seltos, and Carnival — the approach is different. The hardware in these systems is genuinely capable. What it lacks is the signal processing to realise that potential. A DSP amplifier gives us the control the factory tuning was never designed to provide. Either way, the result is the same: a system calibrated for the vehicle and the owner, not the average listener in a showroom. HOW THIS SYSTEM WORKS: The DSP amplifier sits between the factory head unit and every speaker in the vehicle. It takes the speaker-level output from the factory system, corrects it, and redistributes it with independent timing, phase, and frequency correction per channel. Distortion drops significantly. Imaging improves. The soundstage feels placed correctly in the cabin rather than simply present in it. For premium-equipped models, we work carefully around the factory system architecture — Meridian, Harman Kardon, and Bose systems each integrate differently, and every build is assessed individually. The factory interface works exactly as before. Want to take it further with upgraded speakers? That's System Three. Configuration varies depending on your model and factory audio spec — contact us to discuss what's right for your Kia.

Complete System.
Built for Your Kia.
The complete build. Every element addressed.
Tailored quote — contact us- Component speaker upgrade — front (and rear where applicable)
- Compact subwoofer — underseat or alternative mounting
- Multichannel DSP amplifier with app control
- Full individual speaker timing, phase and EQ calibration
- Sound deadening — all four doors
- Power kit, cables and minor parts
- Installation and calibration by ear
The complete build. Every element addressed. Speakers, subwoofer, amplification, signal processing, and acoustic treatment — everything selected and calibrated specifically for the vehicle and the owner. System Three is where the Kia becomes the listening environment it's capable of being. Component speakers replace the factory drivers where the upgrade path is clear. The subwoofer is selected for the specific model — underseat or alternative mounting depending on configuration. Sound deadening extends across all four doors, treating the acoustic environment the speakers work in, not just the speakers themselves. From high-value component sets through to reference-grade drivers, the DSP platform is built to make all of them perform beyond their price point. No visible changes to the interior. Nothing that can't be reversed. HOW THIS SYSTEM WORKS: Component speakers replace the factory drivers — selected specifically for the cabin size, door configuration, and the owner's listening preferences. Speaker options range from high-value performers through to reference-grade drivers in Kevlar, silk, or carbon fibre. The DSP platform is engineered to make all of them perform beyond their price point. For models with premium factory audio, System Three is assessed on a case-by-case basis. The architecture on Meridian, Harman Kardon, and Bose-equipped Kias varies by model — we'll tell you exactly what's achievable for your car before any work begins. The DSP is calibrated using professional specialist software — precise, independent control over every driver, tuned by ear over multiple passes until the system is exactly right for the vehicle and the owner. Wired remote controls are available for bass and volume adjustment. Nothing about the interior looks different. In a car you use every day, that matters. Already happy with your speakers and just want proper control and more power? System Two covers this without the speaker replacement. Scope and pricing vary by model, factory audio configuration, and component choices — contact us to discuss what's involved for your specific Kia. BRANDS WE WORK WITH Components used in this system are selected based on what's right for your vehicle, your budget, and your listening style. Brands we regularly work with include Helix, Audison, Alpine Status, Zapco, Match, Focal, JL Audio, Rockford Fosgate, Morel, Brax, Rainbow, Hertz, ESB Audio, Sony ES, ZeroFlex, and Harmony, among others. Rapid Radio has been installing and calibrating car audio systems in Auckland for over two decades. We work across the full spectrum — from everyday EVs through to Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Tesla — with every build calibrated by ear to the vehicle and the owner. No compromise installs. Factory-clean finish. Every time.
No two builds are the same — and that's the point.
Because the DSP is the engine of every upgrade, the hardware around it is entirely flexible. Entry-level speaker sets will sound dramatically better than the factory system — and world-class reference components will do things the factory engineers never imagined. We work across the full range, from practical upgrades to reference builds, and every system is calibrated by ear before you leave.

How long does the installation take?
How long does the installation take?
Most Kia audio upgrades are completed in a single day. More involved builds — particularly System Three with full speaker replacement and DSP calibration — may require the vehicle overnight. We'll give you a clear timeframe when you book.
Pricing depends on your model, factory audio configuration, and the system you choose. System One starts from under $2,000 installed for most models. System Two and Three pricing varies based on DSP unit selection and component choices — contact us for a quote specific to your Kia.
Will an audio upgrade affect my CarPlay or factory features?
Every system we install leaves the factory head unit and all factory controls in place. CarPlay, Android Auto, steering wheel controls, and any Kia Connect features all work exactly as before. Nothing is removed. Nothing is bypassed. The upgrade sits behind the scenes.
Does the EV cabin make a difference to the audio upgrade?
The quiet cabin in Kia's EV range — EV3, EV4, EV5, EV6, EV9 — works in your favour. Less road noise means more of the music is audible at lower volumes. It also means any weakness in the factory system is more noticeable. A properly installed upgrade in an EV cabin sounds exceptional — the acoustic environment is simply better to work with.
My Kia has Harman Kardon or Bose. What are my options?
Harman Kardon appears on several Kia models — Sportage X-Line, EV3 GT-Line and GT, EV5 GT-Line, Niro GT-Line, and Tasman X-Pro. Bose appears on the Sorento Water, Seltos EX and LTD, and Carnival Water. Both are capable systems held back by factory tuning. A DSP amplifier doesn't replace them — it unlocks what's already there. The factory interface works exactly as before.
My Kia has Meridian audio. Can you still upgrade it?
Yes. On EV6 GT-Line and EV9 GT-Line and GT variants, Meridian is the factory system. We don't replace it — we add a multichannel DSP amplifier that gives us independent control over every speaker in the vehicle. Timing, phase, and equalisation corrected per channel. The Meridian hardware stays in place and the factory interface works exactly as before. The result is significantly better than what Meridian delivers out of the box.
What's involved in a Tasman audio upgrade?
The Tasman is a ute first — the cabin is built for durability, not acoustics. That actually makes the upgrade more impactful. A compact underseat subwoofer, door deadening, and proper amplification transform the listening experience without touching anything structural. X-Pro models with Harman Kardon get the DSP treatment instead. A dedicated Tasman page is coming — contact us in the meantime.
Can you upgrade a Kia Stinger?
Yes. The Kia Stinger may no longer be in current production but it's a well-engineered platform and a rewarding audio build. We can upgrade any Stinger — contact us to discuss what's involved for your specific variant.
